Spring 2023 Transfer Symposium

About the Symposium

  • Hosted by UNC Charlotte Undergraduate Admissions and the University Transfer Center, this annual event is designed for NC Community College advisors, faculty members, Early/Middle College liaisons, and other professional staff members at your institution who work closest with advising and supporting prospective transfer students.
  • The individual symposium sessions will provide useful advising information, university updates, and insight into Niner Nation that we hope will help you in your work with transfer students.

How Will the Transfer Symposium Work

  • Our series of virtual sessions and on-campus experience will provide useful advising information, university updates, and insight into Niner Nation that we hope will help you in your work with transfer students.

Registration

  • Interested participants are asked to register by Friday, Feb. 24. You will receive a confirmation email within 2 business days of registering for the event.
  • All participants will receive a reminder email closer to the event with additional event details. There is no fee to attend this event.

Additional Details

  • Registration is not required for each individual session.
  • By registering for the Virtual Transfer Symposium Event, you can log into any session of interest to you and that works with your schedule
  • All virtual sessions will be recorded- we will post all recordings on this website for future reference following the event.

Symposium Event Schedule

Wednesday | Mar. 1 (Virtual)

  • 9:00 a.m. | Welcome & Transfer Admissions Overview: Undergraduate Admissions will provide a brief welcome, overview of the event, university updates and new transfer student data. Additionally, learn about the admissions process and how we review transfer applicants.
  • 9:30 a.m. | College of Liberal Arts and Sciences: Advising staff from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will provide an overview of majors offered, important transfer updates and key NCCC courses to advise students as they prepare for a seamless transfer.
  • 10:30 a.m. | College of Education: Advising staff from the College of Education will provide an overview of majors offered, important transfer updates and key NCCC courses to advise students as they prepare for a seamless transfer.
  • 11:00 a.m. | The University Transfer Center: Tune into a session about our University Transfer Center to learn how they support our incoming and current transfer student population and how they can support you all in your work with transfer students using our Transfer Credit Resources.
  • 1:00 p.m. | College of Health and Human Services: Advising staff from the College of Health and Human Services will provide an overview of majors offered, important transfer updates and key NCCC courses to advise students as they prepare for a seamless transfer.
  • 1:30 p.m. | School of Professional Studies (Online Programs): Learn about our School of Professional Studies and the online degree programs offered at Charlotte that are proving to be great options for our NCCC transfer students.
  • 2:30 p.m.| Ask Admissions & University Transfer Center: Drop into this Q&A session to meet members of our transfer admissions and transfer center teams to ask questions about material covered during the event, common student questions you receive, etc.
Thursday | Mar. 2 (Virtual)

  • 9:00 a.m. | College of Art + Architecture: Advising staff from the College of Art + Architecture will provide an overview of majors offered, important transfer updates and key NCCC courses to advise students as they prepare for a seamless transfer.
  • 9:30 a.m. | College of Business: Advising staff from the Belk College of Business will provide an overview of majors offered, important transfer updates and key NCCC courses to advise students as they prepare for a seamless transfer.
  • 10:30 a.m. | University Career Center: Learn more about internship opportunities at Charlotte and what our students do upon graduation.
  • 11:00 a.m. | College of Engineering: Advising staff from the Lee College of Engineering will provide an overview of majors offered, important transfer updates and key NCCC courses to advise students as they prepare for a seamless transfer.
  • 1:00 p.m. | College of Computing and Informatics & Data Science: Advising staff from the College of Computing & Informatics will provide an overview of majors offered, important transfer updates and key NCCC courses to advise students as they prepare for a seamless transfer.
  • 1:45 p.m. | General Education Updates: Learn about the changes that have been made to UNC Charlotte’s General Education Curriculum.
