UNC Charlotte Undergraduate Admissions Enrollment Deposit
About The Enrollment Deposit
Once admitted to Charlotte, students must submit their intent to enroll and pay their enrollment deposit through their Future 49er Portal. All incoming first-year, transfer, and second degree-seeking students are required to pay the $100 enrollment deposit. This deposit will serve to hold a student’s spot for their admitted term and will be applied directly to their tuition.
The enrollment deposit must be paid before a student is eligible to apply for on-campus housing or register for New Student Orientation.
How To Pay
To pay the enrollment deposit, you will first need to log into your Future 49er Portal and tell us your enrollment plans via the “Submit Your Intent to Enroll” form. The enrollment deposit is automatically applied to your account (within 20 minutes) following the submission of the form and will be paid directly through the portal in the “Payment Due” section.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the enrollment deposit refundable?
No, the enrollment deposit is not refundable and will be forfeited if the student does not attend Charlotte.
Can I defer my enrollment deposit to a future term?
Yes, the deposit can move forward one term; after that, the student will have to pay another deposit if you choose to reapply to Charlotte. Please note that a term change on your application must be approved by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
If I previously deferred my enrollment, will I now have to pay if my new term is Fall 2026 or later?
Yes, all students with a start term of Summer 2026 or later are required to submit the enrollment deposit.
Will the enrollment deposit ever be waived?
Yes. A student’s enrollment deposit will be waived automatically if they one of the following:
- Student Aid Index (SAI) less than or equal to 0, based on information provided in their FAFSA. The deposit is not an additional fee; it is a prepayment toward tuition. Therefore, if a student’s SAI changes after the deposit has already been paid, no refund will be issued and the deposit will still be applied to their tuition balance.
- Student utilized an approved application fee waiver (first-year students only)
- Student is active military, separated veteran or retiree
If I am waiting for my enrollment deposit to be waived due to my SAI, can I submit payment then receive a refund if eligible?
No. If you are waiting to see whether your enrollment deposit will be waived based on your SAI, do not submit payment. Instead, wait until UNC Charlotte has received your FAFSA data and confirmed your SAI. If your SAI is less than or equal to 0, your deposit will be automatically waived and deferred to your tuition bill. Because the deposit is applied directly to tuition and not treated as a separate fee, refunds will not be issued if payment is made before your eligibility is determined.
I’m having a technical issue with submitting the payment. What should I do?
If you are experiencing technical issues when submitting the payment in your Future 49er Portal, please review the steps below. If you continue to have issues, please contact us at 704-687-5507 or admissions@charlotte.edu.
- Ensure that you are not trying to submit payment between 2-3 p.m. EST. The payment system undergoes maintenance during this time each day. Please try submitting payment at a later time.

When is the enrollment deposit due?
For students admitted for summer or fall terms, the enrollment deposit is due by May 1. If you are admitted after May 1, your deposit is due within 10 days of your acceptance. Students admitted for Spring 2027 should submit their enrollment deposit as soon as possible to move forward with other enrollment next steps.
We understand that transfer students, second-degree seekers, and other late admits may have different decision timelines. UNC Charlotte is committed to ensuring that all students have the information they need to make an informed enrollment decision before submitting their deposit.
