Hurricane Helene Impact

The UNC Charlotte community has been following the news coming out of the regions impacted by Hurricane Helene and we recognize that the road to recovery may be long.

We understand that schools may be out for extended periods of time and that students may not have timely or traditional access to college application process steps, such as submitting transcripts or getting recommendations. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions stands ready to assist our future Niners throughout this process and will have the utmost flexibility based on student needs.

Applicants in the regions most impacted by Helene will be considered on a rolling basis. Students unable to meet the Nov. 1 Early Action deadline can be assured that Charlotte will prioritize the review of their application as they are able to complete it.

Resources for students

Application fee waivers: Students with families financially impacted by Helene can select an institution-specific fee waiver in both the UNC Charlotte Common Application and our institutional application. Selecting this option will waive the $75 application fee.

Official high school transcripts: North Carolina public school students can request that their official transcripts be sent electronically to Charlotte by visiting the College Foundation of North Carolina website at cfnc.org. Click on “Apply to College” and “Request your Transcript.”

Students outside of North Carolina or students at non-public North Carolina high schools can call 704-687-5507 or email admissions@charlotte.edu to connect with an Admissions Counselor to determine the best path forward based on their individual circumstances.

Financial Aid Reconsideration: If you or your family have experienced financial hardship due to Hurricane Helene, a reconsideration form, with documentation, can be submitted to evaluate if additional aid is available.
