Nursing Programs

There are two paths to earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at UNC Charlotte.

4-YEAR BSN CURRICULUM

  • This program prepares students for generalist practice in nursing and allows graduates to sit for the national licensing exam (NCLEX) to practice as a registered nurse (RN).
  • The BSN program is open to incoming freshmen and transfer students, and involves two sequential components: pre-nursing and upper-division.
  • For more information, view nursing program eligibility.

Freshmen

  • Since Nursing is among our top competitive majors at UNC Charlotte, we are looking for students who excel academically. Qualified freshmen will fall at the upper-ends of our GPA and test score ranges for admission.

Transfer Students:

  • The School of Nursing policy for admission to and progression in Pre-Nursing states that students may repeat only 1 course of the designated prerequisite courses for which they earned a C or lower grade.
  • Science courses taken at another college/university that are 4-credit-hour courses, combining the class and lab grade, transfer as 2 courses at UNC Charlotte (1 for the class and 1 for the lab). A grade of C in such courses counts as 2 courses with a C; thus, students would not be not eligible to be in pre-nursing or to apply for admission to the upper division nursing program.
  • For more information, please review our Nursing Transfer Guide.
